Set up Voice AI
An AI agent that answers your phone, takes messages, answers questions and hands the call to a person when it should. Setting one up takes about fifteen minutes.
Voice AI is not part of the CRM subscription. It is available on any paid plan and billed by usage, so what you pay depends on how much you use it. Nothing is charged until a call happens.
1. Add call credit
Voice runs on prepaid credit rather than a bill at the end of the month, so a runaway call cannot become a surprise invoice.
- The first top-up is a minimum of $20.
- After that, packs of $50, $75 and $100, or any custom amount of $20 or more.
- New calls stop starting when the balance falls below $0.50.
Go to Voice AI in your dashboard and add credit under Call credit. Payment is by card and the balance is available immediately.
2. Create an agent
An agent is what answers. Under Agents, create one and fill in four things:
| Field | What to put |
|---|---|
| Agent name | For your reference only. Callers never hear it. “Main line” is fine. |
| Voice | How it sounds. Listen to a few — this is the first impression your callers get. |
| What it says when it answers | The opening line, word for word. For example: “Thanks for calling Ridgeline Plumbing, how can I help?” |
| What it should know and do | Its instructions, in your own words. What you do, your hours, what it should collect, and when to hand over to a person. |
Plain sentences work better than keywords. Say what to do when it does not know something, and say explicitly what it must never promise — pricing and delivery dates are the usual two.
3. Get a number
Under Numbers, choose the kind of number and, for a local number, the area code you want.
| Kind | Monthly | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Local US number | $4.99 | Pick an area code. Looks local to the people you serve. |
| Toll-free number | $9.99 | No geography. Free for your callers to ring. |
Choose which agent answers it. The first month is charged when the number is provisioned, and it renews monthly from then until you remove it.
4. Test it
Call the number. Listen for whether the opening line sounds right, whether it answers the questions people actually ask, and whether the handover to a person works. Then change the instructions and call again — this is normal, and the first version is never the one you keep.
Stopping charges
Delete a number to stop its monthly rent, and delete an agent to remove it. An agent cannot be deleted while a number still answers with it, so delete the number first. Both are removed from the underlying service as well, so nothing keeps billing quietly after you think you have finished with it.
What it costs
- Numbers: $4.99 or $9.99 a month as above.
- Calls: 13¢ to 58¢ a minute, plus 2¢ per call. The range is real — the cost varies with what happens on the call.
- Nothing for an agent, a workflow, or a call nobody answers.
Your usage is shown in the dashboard as it happens, broken down for the month with an average cost per minute, and an itemised statement is issued at month end. The full rate card is at dashboard.virtisphere.com/api/pricing.
